About the Role:
Virtus is seeking a full-time Research Associate to analyze macroeconomic and demographic data, investigate emerging trends and new property subtypes, as well as support the Firm’s thought leadership and strategic communication efforts through the development of white papers and research publications related to our core property types. This role is ideal for a candidate passionate about market research, real estate, and investment trends. The primary responsibilities will include:
- Research and analyze market trends, demographic shifts, economic data, and other relevant factors across Virtus’ property types.
- Write compelling, data-driven white papers, research briefs, and thought leadership materials to support investment decisions, investor communication, and brand positioning.
- Collaborate with the investment and asset management teams to integrate proprietary insights and investment theses into research outputs.
- Maintain a library of updated sector-specific research to inform underwriting, investment strategy, and marketing.
- Support periodic updates to investor presentations and educational content.
- Stay informed on industry publications, third-party reports, and academic studies relevant to social infrastructure real estate sectors.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in real estate, economics, statistics, finance, urban studies, or a related discipline; Master’s degree or relevant certifications a plus.
- Four or more years of experience in real estate research, investment analysis, consulting, or a related field.
- Excellent writing and analytical skills with a proven ability to translate complex data into clear, engaging narratives.
- Proficiency with Python, Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Tableau.
- Self-motivated and organized, and able to manage multiple projects in a deadline-driven environment.
- A strong interest in the intersection of real estate and demographic, social, and economic trends.
