About the Role

As a member of the Acquisitions & Asset Management team, the Intern will be tasked with the following primary responsibilities:

  • Work with the Acquisitions Associates to prepare financial analyses of potential commercial real estate acquisitions including the creation of detailed pro-forma financial models
  • Conduct market and demographic research, draw conclusions on potential opportunities and/or risks, and share findings with Acquisitions and Asset Management teams
  • Review and analyze preliminary due diligence investment information received for potential investments including property level financial statements, third-party reports, and legal documents
  • Support the Asset Management teams during monthly financial reporting, quarterly valuations, financial analyses, end-of-year budget and strategy preparation, forecasting/modeling, and day-to-day operations of existing portfolio

The Summer 2024 internship will be located in-person at Virtus’ corporate office in Austin, TX. The full-time internship will start in June 2024, with the option for part-time availability beginning in January 2024.

Preferred Qualifications

  • General understanding of real estate finance, financial analysis, and basic accounting principles
  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Finance (Real Estate track is a plus)
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
  • Strong analytical skills and research capabilities
  • Diligent work ethic with ability to take initiative and comfortably work in fast-paced environment with simultaneous ongoing projects
  • Keen interest in private equity and institutional-level real estate investing
  • Previous experience in Investment Banking or Private Equity preferred
